Is it Right to Fight?

Date: 13th Dec 2016 @ 10:52am

In Year 6 we have spent the first term working towards answering our topic question Is it Right to Fight. We began our final lesson today by looking at three different fact files relating to different examples of conflicts: Vietnam War, bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima and World War II. We looked at which war would have been considered 'just' and asked ourselves if there was ever a time that war would be the only possible option left. We split ourselves into groups: one side representing for war and one side against war. We collected our information, summarised our arguments and began a debate. Both side had valuable arguments, but we concluded that out of the three conflicts, World War II was a just war and we were indeed right to fight.
