Roman Day in Chester

Date: 27th Apr 2018 @ 9:48am

To get our new topic off to a great start, we visited Chester last week.

We arrived at the Grosvenor museum and had a good look at all the artefacts and displays about Roman life.

We then had a workshop in the classroom where we found out about why the Romans invaded Britain and why they came to Chester. We looked at Roman armour, found out about food they ate and discovered how we know all of this.

In the afternoon, despite the rain, we had the highlight of our day when we met a ‘real’ Roman centurion who enlisted us all as legionaries and took us on a march to the amphitheatre to practice formations for attack and defence.

We made a very good tortoise because of our super teamwork.

We can’t wait to learn more when we get back to school.
