Year 1 Homework

Date: 24th Nov 2016 @ 3:00pm

The children are working hard learning their songs for our Carol Concert ‘Off to Bethlehem’. One of the songs we sing is Away in a Manger and the children are finding it challenging to remember the verses. The children don’t need to know the first verse as ‘Mary’ in our concert sings it, but need to know the second two verses. They find it hard remembering how the new verse starts. Can you read the words through with your child?

Many thanks for your support.

Away In A Manger

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,

The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head;

The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay,

The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,

But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes:

I love you, Lord Jesus look down from on high

And stay by my side until morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask you to stay

Close by me forever and love me, I pray;

Bless all the dear children in your tender care,

And fit us for heaven to live with you there.
