Art

At Kew Woods Primary School, our Art curriculum provides a rich and inspiring range of learning experiences that nurture creativity, confidence and cultural understanding. Through the Kapow scheme, pupils develop technical knowledge and practical skills across key progression areas: making, generating and evaluating ideas, mastering formal elements and learning about artists. Each term begins with an artist study to deepen knowledge and build cultural capital. Pupils’ artwork is celebrated through annual gallery events and displays across the school, promoting pride and oracy as children articulate their artistic journey using subject‑specific vocabulary. Our approach ensures that learning becomes embedded in long‑term memory and that every child leaves Kew Woods with the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to enjoy and value art.
